Vintage Damon Howatt Hunter Ne Plus Ultra Recurve Bow
If you could have only one vintage recurve bow that does it all, this would be a top pick. It is a'Hunter Model' but it works quite well at target practice and any other type of shooting. With the 62 AMO it is smooth and snappy. I'm a competition bare bow shooter and was surprised how accurate it was on the 20 yard 300 targets. With out of the box 600 Victory V6 feather fletched Carbons I'm popping good flat shooting 4 inch groups constantly which is pretty accurate for this type of bow, especially without super tuned arrows and a better rest and string.
The riser is dark, maybe redwood, with very nice grain. I'm pretty sure it's an early 70's manufacture before Martin bought the company. These are no longer as'common' as they once were because anyone who knows old bows understands the quality differences between a vintage Howatt, and the new versions by Martin. Of course you could always pay 3 times more for a brand new one than what you'd likely get this one for.
As far as condition, well for those who are not happy unless they find something wrong with something so that they can then like it, you'd probably be disappointed. I've had or shot them all at one time or another and it's simply a nice looking, comfortable to shoot, good performing classic.
