The previous owner taped off the AMO info and had spray painted the entire bow with camo paint. It took me 3 days with very fine sandpaper and steel wool to remove it. I applied new tape over the AMO so that you can see that he inscription is original to the bow. The original medallion is of course included. The limbs are straight with no twists.
This bow needs the following Some finish sanding, some small traces of old camo paint remain. After that you will need several coats of s finish of your choosing. I recommend Helmsman Spar urethane in a spray can. It will need the factory decals available from Alan Harford, I will put you in touch with him if you like. Glue the medallion back in. If you have never refinished a recurve bow especially an iconic vintage Fred Bear Grizzly than this would be a great starter project. It's a great feeling to refinish one of these bows. I will aid you with the job if you like.
I'm happy to help please ask me any questions you might have. I'm happy to do that.
This beautiful bow deserves to be refinished and shot! Not sitting in my workshop collecting dust. I value people and their time. If you would like more photos please ask and Ill be happy to send more along. God bless and Happy Hunting.
Please note the decals have been removed due to the camo paint removal process. The glass has not been cut into. Ask for additional pics if you like. The item "Fred Bear Vintage Zebrawood Grizzly Recurve project" is in sale since Sunday, February 24, 2019.
