On the left side of the lower riser is one piece, slightly offset from center. A second main piece of zebrawood forms the grip and window, and a small part of the shelf.
A third piece was laid up on the far right side of the riser. It appears as two small sections of lighter colored wood, but I believe it was one piece.
Shaping of the riser makes it look like two pieces. I've seen a lot of KDs but I never saw one with this kind of wood lay up. The limbs are straight with no twists.
There are almost no visible stress cracks in the limbs, and very minimal clouding. There is some very light crazing in the finish, on the limbs and the riser. The bow is in original condition, except for a replica leather plate and a feather rest made by Trap, who makes rests for Bear Archery. There are 3 plugged holes on the right side of the riser. The larger hole is where a factory mounted bow quiver bushing had been inserted. The two smaller holes are where the prongs of the quiver dug into the wood. Yes, believe it or not, Bear designed a bow quiver that put holes in these and other beautiful bows! Someone took out the quiver bushing and filled the holes with what looks like epoxy. I had planned to drill it out and put a new quiver bushing in, and refinish that area. But I decided to leave that to the next owner, if they so choose. Not only has it been shot, but it is a fantastic fast and straight shooter. See the arrow grouping in the last pic, from 30 yards. I love this bow but at my draw, I do better with the 64 model.Since I have some of those, I decided to let this bow go so someone else can enjoy it. It is very smooth for anyone with a draw length of 28 or less. As with all vintage bows, inspect the entire bow carefully before or if you choose to string and shoot it. Bows can undergo changes in transport, so it's possible it will arrive in a different condition than it was sent.
